Anybody who's anybody will remember techno-pop punk rock outfit Republica from the mid-nineties, the band who brought about a notably more aggressive and electronic sound to mainstream commercially successful pop/ rock bands.
Ellice Williams and Antoine Collin, the duo fronting London based Mono Taxi, encapsulate all that is great and good from the Republica era whilst also adopting elements of childhood influences like the Velvet Underground and the Pixies to produce some of the bands punchiest, feel good music to date.
It's just a shame the vocals are so primative and liable to cause the listener bouts of self harm to mask the drudgery that ensues.
Released 07/04/08 on Ciao Ketchup.
