Sheffield is the city best known to this date for its indie style of music. This four piece, differently, are trying to bring back everything we know to be ‘rock’. At the beginning the song is reminiscent of the lazy ruggedness Nirvana or The Vines, unfortunately it looses its intrigue in its climax which just feels so horribly cliched. Remember ‘The Darkness’ who we couldn’t help but watch and laugh at for their humiliatingly pretentious guitar riffs? Well part of ‘Talking in Code’ is in danger of over exerting itself in the same way and all for nothing. Nevertheless, the track shows some initial potential and with some intense tweaking on transition from mellow to heavy, Scrim could eventually gain themselves respect on the rock scene.
Released 07/04/08 on Black Code Records.
