Black Kids were already big where it matters at the end of last summer. Debut EP ‘Wizard Of Ahhhs’, shrewdly dispatched as a free download on their Myspace page, did in weeks what A&R men spend months just thinking about getting round to. Now, just a few months on but with that all important record contract, it’s no surprise that the Jacksonville band have decided to release ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You’ as their first single proper. The standout song from that EP (the one that really got bloggers fingers typing), its sunny synth led chorus, catchy guitar riffs and vivacious teenage vocals all help to make it the audio equivalent of anti-aging medicine. Now all that remains is for the Kids themselves to see how far they can go.
Released 07/04/08 on Almost Gold.
