Life if far too stressful and every day it becomes harder and harder to relax. It seems that Chicago-based three piece Speck Mountain agree. And not only agree but have a solution as well. And their debut single, ‘Hey Moon’, is just that.
This slow shuffle covered in luscious doubled vocals is a song drenched in the imagery of chilled slow-pace Americana. It’s idiotically simple musicianship and unchallenging echo-style means Speck Mountain are unlikely to turn many heads for originality. Regardless of this ‘Hey Moon’ is hypnotic and incredibly soothing. And while it may only buy you 3.08 minutes worth of relaxation time, you can always play it twice during those extra nasty journeys on the tube. A great UK start for Speck Mountain.
