It might only be February but it’s never too early to make bold predictions. So then, 2008: the year of disco? Maybe. Just as New Yorker’s Hercules and Love Affair release their much-anticipated disco debut, Norway’s The Whitest Boy Alive – whose illustrious line up includes Erlend Oye of Kings Of Convenience – release their new single, ‘Golden Cage’. The second song to be taken from their debut album, ‘Dreams’, ‘Golden Cage’ is a soft, subtle disco gem consisting of drums, bass and guitar. In fact, the most complex element comes from Oye’s rather adoring lyrics – the kind that you could easily find yourself having a love affair with. Disco might just be back then.
Released 17/03/08 on Modular.
