You can’t help but think that ‘The Beginning Of The Twist’ was written just after the realisation of being dropped by their record label, 679, had sunk in for The Futureheads. “It’s time to wake up, it’s time to change, let’s get it started, I feel that there’s so much to change,” they sing, at a pace that’s more frenetic than any of their past material. Luckily, as those lyrics show, the epiphany that The Futureheads had was that to make a record you don’t actually need a record label. Consequently, ‘The Beginning Of The Twist’, is The Futureheads sounding like The Futureheads want to sound: raucously energetic, omnipotent and free – at last.
Released 10/03/08 on NUL Records.
