Just six months ago Doug Walker was a struggling singer/ songwriter based in Manchester. One summers day back in August Walker took the long drive down the M1 to spend the early hours of an August morning hounding various BBC Radio DJ's as they turned up for work bleary eyed. Seeing potential Chris Moyles played Walker's music resulting in meetings with 11 record labels, eventual signing to Warner Bros Records and the recording and mixing of his debut album alongside Danton Supple and Michael Brauer of Coldplay fame.
Ripe with a similarly melodic alternative/ piano rock feel drawing direct comparisons to bands and artists like Coldplay, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley for quality, Walker's debut single 'The Mystery' feels like it could have all the wow factor of Coldplay's debut single 'Shiver', let's just hope that a soon to be released album is matched for quality.
