F*cked Up - 'Year Of The Pig'

This is a single to accompany ****ed Up’s tour with Gallows, so a loud, violent assault on the senses, high on testosterone and low on thoughtfulness could be expected. Surprisingly enough, it is a considered effort that begins with gentle guitars and silky guest vocals from Jennifer Castle.

'Year Of The Pig' explodes into hoarse, primal bellows from Damian ‘Pink Eyes’ Abraham that strangely intertwine with Castle’s subtle sound. The epic 18-minute version has a lot more thrashing guitar to satisfy the urge for abrasiveness, but the shorter version manages to meld hardcore ethics with a refreshing regard for songwriting.
