Pop music without guitars has been something of a rarity for the past few years, so listening to the transcending synths on ‘Pink Squares’ is immediately refreshing. Nottingham duo I Was A Cub Scout originally released this in 2006, but it has been given a makeover by producer Hugh Padgham. Where it was sparse, it now has a sense of epic hugeness about it. Sensitive vocals that are wrought with emotion, and driving beats that you can’t help but move along to make this a track worth looking out for.
Released 04/02/08 on XL.
