The usual heavy, melodic mix of blazing guitars, bullish bass lines and explosively charged drums make their presence known from the outset on Biffy Clyro's latest offering. Entitled 'Who's Got A Match?', it's jaunty style builds all the time reaching a crescendo of crashing guitars and thrillingly full-tilt coda. Screamingly obvious comparisons can be seen in the tracks composition and overall sound to classic rock gods the Foo Fighters. The tracks direct lineage seems to lie in Nirvana's quiet-loud dynamic giving the listener a return to true Biffy style and a far cry from previous single 'Machines'. Here Biffy prove they can do classic rock just as well as melancholic acoustic ballads.
Released 04/02/08 on 14th Floor.
