The Ramones’ sweetness is clearly Asobi Seksu’s weakness as the NYC scenesters cover this punk pop classic. Perhaps this is the only time you’ll hear the inimitable juxtaposition between fuzzy shoegaze pop and sleigh bells being gently tickled in the background. It’s a suitably propulsive little track though, and who could resist Yuki’s sugary voice imploring an end to domestic violence? I don’t want to fight with you either love – let’s cook a lasagne together and watch Midsomer Murders on the sofa.
Released 17/12/07 on One Little Indian.
