‘Tonight’ is one of those gentle melodic tunes that is just so ‘nice’. As far as song writing goes this single is decent enough, using steady drums to underpin the soft guitars and strings which give a feeling of classical sincerity to the song but all in all there is nothing about ‘Tonight’ that makes you sit up and want to listen. Granted the vocals are good but Kate Walsh just sounds like a mellow Alanis Morrisette and the lyrics (“Tonight leave our troubles behind”) don’t exactly stick in your mind either. If anything this is just another ‘nice’ singer/songwriter single.
