Pete Doherty has been well documented for letting people down, hell he robbed his best friend and has fallen off the ‘getting clean’ wagon more times then Cristiano Ronaldo around the penalty area. However after the success of the dynamic single, ‘Delivery,’ Babyshambles are back with possibly their best effort yet. Doherty infects the mind with his yells of the tracks title that work parallel with how his former band’s ‘Time for Heroes’ is more commonly remembered – for the opening line as appose to the chorus.
Charmingly flowing into the lyrical prowess that Doherty should be more respected for, he sings: “Well I never ever said it was clever/I just like getting leathered/Looking for the light behind your eyes.” Song credits are shared with Doherty’s former partner Kate Moss, how much she influenced the song can be debatable, but with songs like this in Babyshambles’ arsenal Doherty will finally be able to silence the critics and the tabloids who try to make him their whipping boy and act more as a ring leader for British music today?
Released 03/12/07 on Parlophone.
