Thomas Tantrum - 'Shake It! Shake It!'

‘Shake It! Shake It!’ is a light song that gently pulsates into your head from the word go as it explodes into a very indie sound - think a childish Kate Nash with more spoken and simpler lyrics. It sounds more like a quirky tune rather than a quality one as the line, “I wanna talk / I wanna talk though,” are repeated over and over in the chorus which becomes overdone and annoying.

The laid back acoustic sound of ‘It’s A Shine’ is far more sophisticated than ‘Shake It Shake It.’ The clever lyrics like, “You’re my peace and quiet / You’re the reason why I diet,” will take you to places familiar to many but unfortunately it too suffers from repetitiveness. What is lacking in both of Thomas Tantrum's tracks is not strength of delivery, but an ability to write decent lyrics and depth to the songs.
