Another shot at the top for The Rumble Strips, a band who’s limelight always needs its bulb changing just at the wrong time. ‘Time,’ however, has all the potential to go the distance. Stripping back the instruments has revealed this tracks highlight; great vocals (even if they do sound dangerously close to Johnny Borrell’s) and a bizarre yet catchy saxophone lead (and I never thought I’d say that). Add to this a friendly yet and upbeat tempo and you have a song that almost makes the rise and shine on a Monday morning bearable. A familiar yet refreshingly different take on all the other bands out there right now.
Released 26/11/07 on Universal.
