Whilst the name on the label will bring to mind certain Cronenberg connotations, ‘Raw’ isn’t nearly as explosive as some of their recent support slots for those shoe-studying New Yorkers Asobi Seksu. The opening air-raid siren might paint them as nu-rave sympathisers, but live the London four-piece sound more at home in the 90’s alternative atmospherics of The Breeders or Hole than when armed with glo-sticks. But ‘Raw’ is an ear grabbing, if slightly forgettable, introduction to Scanners, but you’d hope they have more to offer than is here.
