Like a chirpier take on Idlewild, The Xcerts ‘Just Go Home’ has bouncing basslines that sound like they’re about to shoot through the roof. This boundless energy is met with catchy choruses and whooping harmonies that build to Weezeresque flourish. Released on Sam Duckworth’s (Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly) Mannequin Republic label they have a certain amount of DIY street cred. B-side ‘Aberdeen 1987’ shows their naïve younger side, with nostalgic coming of age tales that’s a bit too Dashboard Confessional for comfort. Their ever-growing young fanbase should see them snapped up some industry types soon.
Released 12/11/07 on Mannequin Records.
