When did Super Furry Animals sound like Elvis Costello? Tell us please, have we been away that long? Have the Furries always secretly been a Costello tribute band, thinly disguised as a well-known super indie group? The thick welsh accent aside, there’s plenty of weird Costello woo-oooh-oooh’s to fill your appetite (not that Costello was Welsh last time we checked), along with flicks of the tambourine wrist, and the strange narrator’s prelude: “This song is based on a true story, which would be fine if it wasn’t autobiographical.” Put it this way, 'Run Away' is not a life story we’ll be rushing out to buy.
Released 29/10/07 on Rough Trade.
