The New 1920 - 'Torpedo Libido'

‘Torpedo Libido’ is a real mix of indie jangles and rock style drums and vocals making this single an interesting one to listen to. It’s got something for everyone, emo, indie, rock and a sound that you can throw yourself around too, but in mixing such varied and strong sounds The New 1920 immediately move themselves towards the mainstream sound. Whilst this isn’t necessarily a bad thing there are a lot of MCR and Lost Prophets style bands around already and it only ‘Torpedo Libido’ that shows they have an edge as B-side ‘Tidy Ride’ is a more downbeat version of their sound and goes on for far too long. The New 1920 are going to have to work to earn their place on the scene as with an abundance of bands touting a similar style there’s little room for the mediocre.
