The influence of the countless American pop-punk bands are etched into these five young upstarts from Surrey. The sugary sweet melodies and contagious chorus are straight from the drive-thru records manual, but this doesn’t have to be a negative thing. You Me At Six more than hold their own against the likes of Cute Is What They Aim For and The Academy Is and would certainly welcome the huge success those bands have enjoyed of late. ‘Save It For The Bedroom’ has all the ingredients for the perfect emo number - heartache, more sexual innuendos than a ‘Carry On’ film topped off with bundles of energy and sincerity. Influence is fine and hard to avoid, so as long as YMAS don’t start singing about going back to California or being stuck on the ‘West Coast’ when their girl is in the ‘East Coast’, they will do just grand.
Released 22/10/07 on Slam Dunk Records.
