Once upon a time there was the 1980s. A quite exquisite decade in parts, a hell hole in others. Then came the 1990's and the computer and the sampling machine. When the Millennium bug failed in its grandiose and evil plan to fraction the electronic world, The Go! Team were born and combined the lot. They are as unique as the day they were born and god bless them for that. 'Wrath of Marcie' is ****ing great.
As your ear drums are bombarded with sounds and sonic vibrations that somehow sound like a mess, your brain undoes the chaos and what filters through is a melodic soundscape of epic proportions. So much imagination, creativity and finesse has gone into it. Smile you will. So the sound hasn't exactly moved on from 'Thunder, Lightning Strike.' Who cares. Its not like they are Snow Patrol. Its not boring, strummy crap with maronic lyrics. It doesn't need to move on. If it did, it would be this. And it wouldn't be as good.
Released 26/11/07 on Memphis Industries.
