Without even listening to the music I was instantly impressed by just the cover. An abstract drawing with lots of bright colours and I’m already drawn into Eugene Mcguinness’ world. As unbeknown as he may be to the majority he’s supported The Shins, Rilo Kiley and Regina Spektor and I wouldn’t be surprised if these have been his inspirations as there’s certainly that feel to him. In ‘Bold Street’ he takes the simplest of melodies and makes it beautiful. Experiences are romanticized with visual lyrics and work perfectly with the music. In a matter of 6 minutes we’ve walked into his thoughts, heard his range of notes and experienced beautiful melodies. If you haven’t heard him yet I wouldn’t wait around!
