San Francisco’s come a long way in musical terms since the days of wearing flowers in your hair. With ‘Music is the Wine,’ the city’s Seventeen Evergreen might have a few harmonised “ah-ah-ahhh”s but that’s about as close as it gets. With song writing and singing style recalling Leonard Cohen’s drawl, the song is a lament to lost love, but it’s so much cooler than your usual sob songs. And while the original version is good in itself, the remixes on this single are even better, showing off an experimental, dancier streak and causing a whole lot of fun.
Released 22/10/07 on Lucky Number.
