Following the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Keane’s latest 4 minute single sounds very much like their last 4 minute single – a mid-paced ballad full of rousing keys and wistful lyrics. Not that there’s anything innately wrong with that formula, but, at the same point, there’s nothing particularly fresh or inspiring about it either. Here, on, 'The Night Sky,' a track recorded exclusively for the charity, War Child, the ever-pensive Tom Chaplin ponders the effects of conflict from the perspective of an infant. A worthy cause then, but doubters will remain unconvinced.
Released 29/10/07 on Island Records.
