Lying at the emotive core of the 'Sound Of Silver' album comes the single release 'Someone Great,' which is like a tune lifted from the 80's pop movie 'Electric Dreams.' 'Someone Great' sees LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy turn inwards with a tune packed with warbly synth lines, awash with digi-funk flutterings, sonic ping-pong, xylophone chimes and the emotive lyrics "I wish that we could talk about it/ but there, that's the problem/ with someone new I couldn't start it/ too late for beginnings." The savvy 'Someone Great' chimes in a relaxed groove, although quite who the line "someone great is gone" refers to we don't know.
Released 22/10/07 on DFA.
