A Mercury prize nomination resting soundly in their back pocket, the album Fantastic Playground has already seen New Young Pony Club render their blend of synths, guitars and dirty vocals unavoidable and so all comparisons to Blondie and Talking Heads, while already made, ring very true. It is their contemporaries, CSS and The Sunshine Underground who they are up against and with 'Get Lucky' they may well have surpassed them.
Tahita Bulmers voice is as refreshing as it is toxic, unmistakeable in its lazy twang. The relentless fuzzy guitars are supported by a soundscape of infectious beats, 80's synth and lyrical references from Karate Kid and Psycho killer. Glorious.
Released 22/10/2007 on Modular.
