Class, pay attention; the twee history lesson is hitting the road as The Decemberists drop their rifles and take a trip to darker lands. With ‘Perfect Crime #2’ the band take a detour with this rocking single, it’s pacey and stinks of slumber and disaster. The image inducing brilliance of Civil War/Post 9/11 America has been substituted for a road movie of a single. The chorus line laconically repeats itself and chimed by a classic bassline you can almost -cliché alert – feel the wind in your hair.
