The Wombats hit us with their new single ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division' - a song which is equally as catchy in its title as it is in melodies. These lads from Liverpool are not afraid to write pop songs and you can totally imagine this being the next big tune in any indie club with its Arctic Monkeys staccato guitars and Franz Ferdinand thumbing drums. On the downside of this there is the realisation that they neither have the finesse of the Monkeys in terms of songwriting nor the sophistication and nonchalance of Franz in terms of crafting modern, pop inspired tunes. However, get three beers into my system and I’ll be on the dance floor with you shuffling along to The Wombats anthem of basic fun and better bands.
Released 15/10/07 on 14th Floor.
