Halfway through ‘Dirty Pint’ is a moment when you feel like you’re trapped inside either a demented fairground ride, or some sort of giant and terrifying music box - but, you know, in a good way. The whole song brings up a mental picture of Restlesslist - featuring members of Electric Soft Parade and Brakes - crouching in a darkened room, splicing together different genres, crazy samples and chunky riffs like mad scientists. And the result is just brilliant. Never being quite sure where the song is going to go next makes for very entertaining listening. But by the end of the song, all makes sense and all you’re left wondering is how it possibly fits so well.
