If you like to dabble in a fair bit of punk-pop, look no further than Kill The Arcade. The band are no Taking Back Sunday, but they are still young and this second EP shows promise and progress. The songs lack originality, so the band are going to need to come up with something new to compete with the more popular punk-pop around. After all, how often do we see this genre in the chart?
The songs would suite being background music on a teen TV show because they have that emo quality, but are not good enough to distract you from what’s going on in the show. It’s difficult to differentiate between songs on the EP, and at the moment the band could be better off merging the four songs into one, hopefully making it compelling. Overall, Kill The Arcade are a band to keep your eye out for if you’re into the genre, but with this EP, the word ‘average’ has never been more succinct in describing something.
Released 01/10/07 on Tree Brain Records.
