This is funk like you’ve never heard it before. State Radio's Vocalist and guitar player Charlie Stokes has verbal diarrhea so alluring you’ll be jumping to clean it up, his voice is penetrating and soulful, and the riffs have got more groove than your Dad did in the seventies. You’d have to be a robot to not give in to the urge to tap or shake something. 'Wicker Plane's' bridges are tense, and the chorus is explosive. The urgency in stokes’ voice still manages to hint at reggae tones in the laid back style, and the funk will certainly send you sky high. If you’re a fan of Chris Cornell’s solo work, tell him to sod off because you’ve found something better.
Released 17/09/07 on Ruff Shod.
