From forthcoming album ‘Love/Hate,’ 'Bitter End' will strike fear into the heart of many, as it is undeniably more watered down than the Nine Black Alps we’re used to. That’s not to say it isn’t good, however. There is an irresistible melody, and a chorus that uses the word ‘baby’ so much that there’s no way this won’t become a guilty pleasure track to shake your tail-feathers to at the indie disco. But herein lies the problem; it will be a guilty pleasure. It’s a stonking pop track, but there’s just something missing, that’s needed to make it more than just a catchy chunk of Ash – esque pop. Move you on outside it will, move you on inside – you’ll be hard pushed.
Released 17/09/2007 on Island Records.
