'Are You Trying To Be Lonely?' is a modern northern soul sounding track by Andy Lewis and Paul Weller that tells the story of trying to love someone who keeps pushing you away. Weller sings: “Are you trying to be lonely, well it’s working for you.’
The catchy and jazz fuelled single is difficult to not enjoy and acts as a perfect teaser for Lewis’ upcoming album ‘You Should Be Hearing Something Now’. It is accompanied by two B-sides. ‘Tell Me Once Again You Love Me’ is a pure mod influenced sharp beat track that falls somewhere between Booker T and the MG’s and The Stone Roses. Sounding like a recording of a band jamming, ‘The Lazuli Affair’ portrays freedom with extended organ solos and improvised guitar riffs.
Released 10/09/07 on Acid Jazz.
