Blondie have an appeal that spans generations, appealing to both eth forty year old karaoke singing mum of three to the monosyllabic skater boy. It’s pretty fair to say that good old Debs can do no wrong in the eyes of many a music fan. Far be it from Gigwise to put a dampener on proceedings, but the new single by Debbie-slash-Deborah-slash-Debbie again thank you very much, sounds like a strange parody of Blondie. With vocals on the first verse sounding a dodgy impression of Marianne Faithful, it takes until the chorus for her characteristic New York vocal to really take off.
Above anything else though it’s a bit disturbing to see a 62 year old who looks more airbrush-perfect than your average 14 year old, sings about cheating on boys, and dresses the same way. Should Blondie finally grow up?
