Further proof that Swedes do pop better than any other nation, and Victoria Bergsman has had a large hand recently in adding weight to such a claim. As if fronting The Concretes for over ten years wasn’t enough, as well as lending her larynx to Peter Bjorn and John’s instant classic ‘Young Folks’, her first foray into solo territory is as exquisite as they come.
Her wilting melodies sung with a heartstring tugging breathy, delicate delivery matched with gentle piano folk is enough to warm even the coldest of creatures, recalling some of Laura Nyro’s more stripped down moments on occasion.
