Well, Sheffield really is showing some variety at the moment. Pulling a genius musician/band out of its hat more often than yearly, it’s the official musical hotspot. Not only is it producing a few special gems, it’s showing variety. Kid Acne is 100% different to Arctic Monkeys, The Long Blondes and plenty of other hometown heroes who could have influenced him. Described as the one-man version of Beastie Boys, you can see where the comparison came from when listening to ‘Sliding Doors’. Samples galore, fusing hip hop with an individual edge – he sounds at the top of game. Gutsy and outgoing with the sounds which he produces, we have a star emerging, without any shadow of a doubt.
Released 03/09/07 on Lex / EMI Records
