Those that haven’t yet appreciated the talent that Shingai Shoniwa, Dan Smith and Jamie Morrison carry, simply haven’t heard enough of their band. The Noisettes have taken 2007 into a feiry, ferocious storm with their debut album and they lie pleasantly out of the limelight, making them one of the UK’s most underrated bands. This release of ‘The Count of Monte Christo’ is a sure-fire way to change things. Complex, comfortable and colourful, the new single keeps to itself more than other releases have. Instead of being obnoxious, kicking you in the teeth just to get your attention, the latest affair invites you to explore the band’s music. Lyrics look beautiful on paper - and Shoniwa’s voice lets them float freely above everything else that surrounds them. Dreamy yet feisty, no other Noisettes single has been this essential.
Released 03/09/07 on Mercury Records
