Taken from their debut album, ‘We Are Pilots’, the Shiny Toy Guns single ‘Rainy Monday’ is a great little song from a band that clearly have grand ambitions. The LA four piece clearly like to use technology and a generous helping of synths to create an upbeat electrical air. Subsequently, it can sound a bit like the best parts of a mid-90s pop song, and not as new-sounding as claimed. Rock music with a dance ethic is hard to pull off but this song does it well, and will be intriguing to hear what’s next. Indeed, like all good singles, this certainly makes you want to check out the album.
