Billed as Germany's “most successful rock band” (surely Rammstein, no?) Tokio Hotel have managed to release a single that stretches plagiarism to breaking point, sounding like a thousand other nu metal tracks melted together into a hideous FM radio MOR rock mess. Subscribing to the quiet loud formula, the verse strums along, then an amps up to 11 chorus kicks in without being remotely memorable. The only slightly distinguishing feature is the slight hint of a Teutonic accent, which does mark the sole difference on a track that couldn't be more generic if it was painted magnolia. Unsurprisingly for something so cynically aimed at profiteering from angsty teens they have managed to gain 4 number ones amongst a David Hasselhoff loving populace. You have to be slightly concerned if a press release contains the words “rip-roaring rocking chorus” and with these German teens that is most definitely the case, unless nu metal revival is your type of thing.
Released 27/08/07 on Polydor Records

- i think this review is totally unfair and was obviously written by a very boring old man! i love Tokio Hotel and their single ready set go! and so do millions of others all across central europe, so this reviewer obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about and will eat his words when they become famous over here!

- I think the reviewer totally misses the point with this review. Sure Germany may have been the only country loving The Hoff, but that surely ain’t relevant here since Tokio Hotel is hugely successful all over Europe. So yes, Tokio Hotel beats Rammstein out of the water in terms of most successful German band. It’s no competition at all actually. Unless Rammstein managed to sell 100 000 concert tickets in France in less than six hours, and sold 3 million CDs in less than two years.

- Oh well, I don’t agree with this opinion but thanks for the effort.
I like their pop-rock dramatics and tunes are catchy.
One other thing, Tokio Hotel brings back music debate. Love them or hate them they are going to be talked about a lot.

- NO OFFENCE BUT HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT! TOKIO HOTEL IS THE BEST BAND EVER! I HAVE THEIR ALBUM BOTH IN ENGLISH AND IN GERMAN. I AM A DIE HARD FAN AND IF YOU’VE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN WRITE A REVIEW AND TOTALLY RIP THEM TO SHREDS THEN YOU MUST BE STUPID. No offence..sorry i take things seriously because there are loads of their fans who would be willing to back me up.
Thanks for your time.

- Now I’m going to be different here. I agree, but don’t. I’ll admit they have been successful, however, I don’t see why. Their style and sound is very much similar to any other Nu-Metal band. There is no real originality with their music, it isn’t unique, but if they are successful then let them be. However, I don’t see the huge hype.
