




Plate spinning as both a live music promoter and record label, AC30 has recently taken to sticking out singles from bands that have enjoyed cracking shows at their club night. The latest mob to flutter their not insubstantial eyelids at the label is The Domino State. On ‘Iron Mask’ this London based quintet has crafted a brooding, epic soundscape that hints at the sinister but also finds rooms for a substantial euphoric undercurrent. Matt Forder’s haunting vocals play delightfully against the evocative, driving melodies from the guitars of Tim and James, and there is a sense of real optimism emerging from the darkness as the song builds and gains force. The fact that they’ve thrown in some dope harmonica means it was never going to get below three stars anyway…
