More Arab Strap

With a title like 'Fight Like The Night' you might expect a highly charged, unrelenting riot of steely guitars and screaming vocals filling the air with a strong audial resemblance to bands like Led Zepplin or Judas Priest. Malcolm Middleton's latest track is a some what more sedate affair with vocals from Jenny Reeve that shine a positive light on vocals from Middleton that are some what less appealing and quite frankly dreary in nature. Middleton is forgiven for such short comings vocally though as he conveys his well earned position as one of his generations most highly adept songwriters with truly open and honest lyrics. A life time of playing guitar in a hand full of punk-rock orientated groups has homed exceptional talents. Middleton injects a rapturous cloak of fuzzy guitars peppered with a steady infusion of electronic effects which compliment the tracks challenging issues of depression, misery and sadness. Don't reach for the rope, call the Samaritans!
