Fall Out Boy - 'The Take Over, The Breaks Over'

From the band which brought you 'Thks fr th Mmrs', here's another slice of accessible angst to strike horror into the hearts of grammar lovers everywhere. Yet even if it's your natural inclination to be sceptical when a track's credits include a Pro Tools editor and a guitar solo attributed to two non-band members, it's hard to sustain cynicism in the face of the type of blinding pop choruses in which Fall Out Boy specialise. The image of an executive in the corner ticking off elements on his emo checklist grows when the Black Parade-aping marching band section kicks in, but ultimately whatever one thinks of the genre, this at heart is just a great pop song.

Released 02/07/07 on Mercury Records
