Ignore the ‘emo’ stigma or the pseudo-Nazism of a black parade, My Chemical Romance have triumphed with ‘Teenagers’, resurrecting 50’s rock ‘n’ roll and producing a piece of wide appealing brilliance. While catering to the usual gothed-up teenagers crying ‘no one understands me’, the track also has an edgy appeal. The use of “shit” in the chorus of an otherwise infectiously-catchy radio-friendly record is a piece of ball-swinging bravado. And for highlight the American hypocrisy of an adult population of homicidal gun nuts fearing today’s make-up covered youth, MCR truly deserve a medal.
Quirky, polished to perfection and satirically funny (Way himself is closer to 50 than 15), this is the best thing MCR have produced to date.
