While Monch’s new album Desire is being hailed as this year’s Fishscale, ‘Body Baby’ doesn’t quite ever light up enough to convince of the pop skills Monch holds. Tapping into the speakeasy hip hop of Outkast, ‘Body Baby’ just never seems to quite come fully into Technicolor focus, feeling to restrained an attempt but their will certainly be some shaken rumps when this one gets going. You get the feeling that given a beefy remix, this could be a storming tune to get the clubs jumping but as it is, it’s the warm Jack and Coke in need of rocks.
