A far retreat from the increasingly trite and commercial sound of American hip-hop, Yorkshire-based Kid Acne returns to hurl spit-balls in the faces of his gun-toting peers from across the Atlantic. Fiercely independent and individual, ‘Worst Luck’ sees Acne once again hitting home with some astute observations of contemporary culture. “Highlight tonight will be Jonathan Ross/I’ve been dumped and now she’s turned ‘er phone off” he laments before boasting that he’s “got two phones like a drug-dealer” on the tune’s main lyric. Cynical, ironic and quintessentially British.
