Juliette and The Licks continue the pilfering of better rock bands with this by the numbers rock blast. ‘Purgatory Blues’ comes at you sounding like Queens Of The Stone Age without the foreboding menace and sung by an actress. Juliette Lewis is a good stage presence and the band make some rather rocking noise, but her voice just can’t carry the song. It rumbles along not unpleasantly, even though you feel like you’ve heard it somewhere before, only better. It should be a hard rocking, whiskey drinking punch in the face of a song sadly it only really feels like a light slap. Buy it if you think coke zero is a great idea!
