One of the more organic moments from their immense ‘Sound of Silver’ album, ‘All My Friends’ loops around and around like some lost Velvet Underground jam that has somehow been wired into the future and landed untarnished in the DFA studio. James Murphy sounds impassioned where once there was cool nonchalance, while drums reverberate endlessly beneath a piano riff so persuasive it may well have been written by Derren Brown. What’s more, the flipside contains covers of the track by Franz Ferdinand and John Cale, while the band themselves rework Joy Division’s ‘No Love Lost’. Whoever LCD Soundsystem’s friends are, they should be very, very flattered indeed.
Released 28/05/07 on EMI/DFA
