Motown piano meets lo-fi indie in a charming collision held together with gentle Belfast tinged vocals and a backdrop of strings. It’s all very listenable stuff from the Jools Holland featured ‘hobo chic’ bedhead Duke Special aka Peter Wilson. It’s like eating a very tasty cake then realising you should have ordered it with cream. It does the job, it’s thoughtful and poetic and very well done but somehow lacks something. Duke Special is obviously very sensitive and very talented - combine this with the ease of his accent and you have an artist to fall in love with. But this song is just likeable.
