Arms – ‘Whirring’ (Melodic) Released 30/04/07

Arms is actually just one man – 24 year old singer/songwriter, Todd Goldstein – hailing from the city to love, New York.  NY City brings up images of big apples, Friends, Statue of Liberty, but more importantly, innovative and exciting music (The Strokes, The Ramones).  Unfortunately, the Brooklynite fails to deliver on the most important front.  His particular brand of indie rock isn’t bad…but it certainly isn’t breaking any boundaries.  Not all music has to you may cry, but Goldstein himself even seems bored with what he’s singing.  “Let’s go out on that wing” are the opening lines of ‘Whirring’ and yet his sentiment is not believable.  Arms clearly has an abundance of talent, but needs to “go out on that wing” to achieve his potential.
