The Blood Brothers – ‘Laser Life’ (Witchita) Released 23/04/07

****ing hell. This lot are exhausting. Listening to ‘Laser Life’ was like losing a sub-three minute argument with my ex-girlfriend about whether or not I was trying to control her. We decided she was right and left it there. The Blood Brothers however, continue to screech at me for a while longer while drowning me in a whirlpool of spiky keys, throbbing drums and chaotic guitars. Charlotte never went that far. The Bros’ barrage of noise is surprisingly enjoyable (considering the description I’ve just laid out) if not pretty predictable given their previous work. ‘Laser Life’ provides an accessible entrance to their new LP, ‘Young Machetes’. Brutal.
